Louise and Western Avenue Overpasses & I-229 Bridge Work Planned
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Repair work will begin next week on a couple of Interstate 229 overpasses in Sioux Falls and some I-229 bridges.
Buskerud Construction, Inc., a contractor for the South Dakota Department of Transportation, will start the repairs on Monday, April 2.
Work will take place on the overpass structures at Louise and Western avenues, and bridges on the northbound lanes of I-229 between Louise and Cliff avenues.
The repair work, scheduled to continue until Oct. 26, will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the construction zones at times when the work is being done.
Motorists should expect delays though the construction areas and stay alert for workers, equipment, lane closures, lane shifts and suddenly slowing traffic.
Speed will be reduced to 45 mph within the construction zones while workers are present, and motorists are reminded that fines are doubled in work-zone areas.
