Work to Begin on I-90 between Oacoma and Chamberlain

MITCHELL, S.D. – Reconstruction work will begin Tuesday (April 3) in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 from mile marker 258 west of Oacoma to Exit 265 at Chamberlain.

Traffic will be placed head-to-head in the eastbound lanes late in the afternoon of April 3 (about 5 p.m.), and the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.

Existing asphalt pavement in the westbound lanes will be removed and replaced with concrete pavement. Work will also be done on the bridge decks in the westbound lane between mile markers 258 and 263.

West bound traffic will not be able to exit at the Chamberlain Rest Area or Exit 263 while traffic is head to head in the eastbound lanes.

Work on the westbound lanes is expected to be completed by July 18, 2012.

The Prime Contractor is Upper Plains Contracting, Inc. of Aberdeen, S.D.
