Interstate 90 Eastbound and Westbound Auxiliary Lane Improvements Work Planned

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Work will begin today (Monday, April 9) on median crossovers for Interstate 90 traffic over the I-229 bridge.

Work will take place in the median east and west of the I-229/I-90 bridge. Shoulder work will done at the eastbound on ramp at Cliff Avenue and the I-90 off ramp to I-229.

The auxiliary lane work is scheduled to continue until August 27, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

I-90 traffic will be reduced to one lane through the construction zones at times when work is in progress.

Motorists should expect delays through construction areas and stay alert for workers, equipment, lane closures, lane shifts, and suddenly slowing traffic.

Speed will be reduced to 55 mph within the construction zones while workers are present and motorists are reminded that fines are doubled in work-zones.

The prime contractor is T&R Contracting, Inc. The overall completion date for the project is September 28, 2012.
