Completion of Interstate 90 Exit 52 Begins
RAPID CITY, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation has begun completion of the Exit 52 project on Interstate 90 outside of Rapid City.
Lane closures have been put in place in the westbound and eastbound lanes of I-90 so preliminary work can be completed before putting two-way traffic in the westbound lanes on April 25.
The Exit 52 project involves completion of the I-90 eastbound lanes and eastbound off-ramp at Exit 52 with a new concrete surface, removal of the old I-90 eastbound lanes and bridges, reinforcement of the multi-plate structure over the railroad tracks, and completion of Sturgis Road asphalt surfacing between Anderson Road and Bowtie Drive.
This part of the project is scheduled to be done by July 25, prior to the 2012 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Minor work will take place after the rally and will not affect traffic on I-90 or Sturgis Road.
Completion date for the whole project is Sept. 28.
