Work Begins on Highway 14A near Cheyenne Crossing In Lawrence County

RAPID CITY, S.D. – On Monday, April 23, crews will begin work southwest of Lead on a landslide repair area located along U.S. Highway 14A and the truck turnout on Highway 85 at Cheyenne Crossing.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane, with an 11-foot width restriction on Highway 14A, in order to clear timber, excavate slide debris, and construct a new back slope on the east side of the road. Vehicles larger than 11-feet-wide should use an alternate route.

Flaggers will be used during daytime operations, and temporary traffic signals will be used during nighttime hours to maintain traffic. Motorists should expect 10 to 15-minute delays during daytime operations on Highway 14A near Cheyenne Crossing.

The work is anticipated to be done by June 15.
