Stanford Street Reconstruction in Vermillion
VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota Department of Transportation officials say the first phase of the Stanford Street and west Main Street reconstruction project in Vermillion will begin on Monday, May 14.
Reconstruction work consists of completely removing and replacing the existing concrete surface, widening the roadway, and replacing curb, gutter and sidewalk.
West Main Street will be closed at Stanford Street until the work is completed and the road reopens in late June. About 125 feet of roadway will be replaced.
The south half of Stanford Street will be closed to the north from west Main Street for about 1,000 feet and is scheduled to be open again by mid-June.
Phase two of the project will begin immediately following completion of phase one.
During the second round of construction, the north half of Stanford Street will be closed from Cherry Street to the south for about 1,000 feet.
Completion date for the entire project is Nov. 2.
D & G Concrete of Sioux Falls is the prime contractor on the $1.3 million project.
