Work To Begin on Highway 50 between Chamberlain and Buffalo County Line
MITCHELL, S.D. – Construction on South Dakota Highway 50 between Chamberlain and the Buffalo County line is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 21.
The work will include asphalt concrete resurfacing, grading, flattening slopes on approaches, culvert work and guardrail on the nine-mile project.
The schedule for the project is as follows:
- Week of May 21 – Culvert work throughout the project area
- Week of May 28 (after Memorial Day) – grading will begin in several areas
- Week of July 23 – Cold milling will begin, followed by asphalt overlay
During the construction, traffic will be maintained with the use of pilot cars and flaggers. Motorists can expect delays and loose gravel, and they may want to consider an alternate route.
The project is expected to be finished by Aug. 31.
The Prime Contractor is Spencer Quarries Inc., of Mitchell.
