Highway 123 South of Wilmot to be closed for Pipe Installation

WATERTOWN, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says portions of South Dakota Highway 123 in Grant and Roberts counties will be closed for construction, beginning Monday, May 21.

The contractor, AP & Sons, will close Highway 123 in one-mile increments from Highway15 in Wilmot to Highway 12, east of Summit, to install cross pipe over a four-week period.

Local traffic will be allowed in non-construction areas and may use the mile section roads around the construction sites.

Once the pipe installation is complete, milling and paving operations on Highway 123 will take place, and traffic will be maintained through the construction area using flaggers and pilot car. Delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected.

A nine-foot width restriction will be in place until the completion of the project in October.

Bituminous Paving, Inc. is the prime contractor.
