U.S. Highway 12 Resurfacing Project between Groton and Bath
ABERDEEN, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin installing traffic control devices on U.S. Highway 12 in the eastbound lanes between Bath and Groton on about Wednesday, June 20.
The work is being done in preparation for the shifting of all Highway 12 traffic between Groton and Bath to a head-to-head configuration in the eastbound lanes on June 25.
Once traffic has been re-routed to the eastbound lanes, the westbound lanes will be closed for concrete resurfacing, as well as guardrail updates and epoxy deck seals on bridges.
Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures prior to June 20 as the contractor prepares for the upcoming project.
A 12-foot width restriction will be in place during the project.
Upper Plains Contracting Inc. of Aberdeen is the prime contractor on the $8.5 million project.
The overall contract completion date is October 12, with the project limited to 75 weather working days once traffic has been shifted to the eastbound lanes.
