Interstate 90 Auxiliary Lane Improvement Work in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation will be closing the Interstate 229 northbound on-ramp to eastbound I-90 in Sioux Falls on Monday (Aug. 20).

Construction crews will be working on the I-229 / I-90 bridge in the eastbound lanes until late September.  I-90 traffic is reduced to one lane through the construction zone.

Both I-90 west and eastbound off-ramps to I-229 south will remain open as well as the on-ramp for I-229 northbound traffic to I-90 west.

Motorists should expect reduced speeds through the construction areas and stay alert for workers, equipment, lane closures, lane shifts and suddenly slowing traffic.

Speed will be reduced to 45 miles-per-hour within the construction zones while workers are present.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled in work zone areas.

For more information, contact the Sioux Falls Area Department of Transportation office at 605-367-5680.
