Interstate 229 Work In Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation advises motorists that epoxy chip seal work resumed Sept. 4 on Interstate 229 in Sioux Falls.

The work started in the northbound lanes of the I-229 bridge across the Big Sioux River.

Motorists can expect single lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-229 at the overpass structures of Cliff and Minnesota avenues. Various lane closures will also occur during daylight hours to complete the work.

Motorists should expect delays though the construction area and stay alert for workers, equipment, lane closures, lane shifts and suddenly slowing traffic.  Drivers are reminded that fines are double in work zones.

The substantial completion date for the $2.5 million project is Oct. 26.  Buskerud Construction of Dell Rapids is the prime contractor.

Complete road construction information can be found at www.safetravelusa.com/sd/  or by dialing 511.
