New Traffic Signal added at U.S. 212 and I-29

WATERTOWN, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says a new traffic signal put into place on U.S. Highway 212 at the junction of the Interstate 29 northbound ramps at Watertown should be operational by Friday (Sept. 14).

Engelstad Electric, a contractor for the department, is making the final connections and will begin testing the signals this week.

The project also included modification of the pavement markings and signing at the intersection of Highway 212 and the I-29 northbound ramps, as well as partial interchange lighting along the I-29 northbound and southbound ramps.

The cost of the project is $325,055.

Motorists travelling through the intersection of Highway 212 and the I-29 northbound ramps are encouraged to slow down and be aware of the new traffic signal.
