Department of Transportation Seeks Public Input into

I-90 Exit 59 (La Crosse Street) Interchange Options Study

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the Rapid City Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the City of Rapid City, will hold a public open house on Thursday, Nov. 29 to inform area residents on the beginning of an interchange options study for the following roadway corridors in Rapid City:

  • I-90 Exit 59 (La Crosse Street) Interchange
  • La Crosse Street from Eglin Street to south of Mall Drive

The purpose for the open house is to inform the public of the study’s intent, to record any concerns the public may have along the study’s corridors, and to gather ideas to help determine the future look of the interchange.

Separate meetings with business and landowners along the corridors are also planned.

For those who cannot attend the meeting or desire additional information on the study, information is available online at http://www.sddot.com/transportation/highways/planning/specialstudies/Default.aspx - click on the La Crosse St. (Exit 59) link.

The meeting will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Spruce Pines Conference Room of the Ramada Inn, located at 1902 North La Crosse Street in Rapid City.  A brief, summarizing presentation will be made at approximately 5:30 p.m. followed by an open house discussion with SDDOT, MPO, City, and Consultant staff.  The opportunity to present written comments will be provided.  Written comments will be accepted until Dec. 29, 2012.

Notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that this open house/public meeting is being held in a physically accessible place. Any individuals with disabilities who require a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in the open house / public meeting should submit a request to the Department’s ADA Coordinator at 605-773-3540 or 1-800-877-1113 (Telecommunication Relay Services for the Deaf).  Please request the accommodations no later than 2 business days prior to the meeting in order to ensure accommodations are available.
