Work to Begin on US Highway 18 Near Winner

WINNER, S.D. – According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, a $10.2 million concrete paving project on U.S. Highway 18 near Winner is scheduled to begin in the next week.

Upper Plains Contracting, Inc. from Aberdeen will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, March 26, at the Holiday Inn Express in Winner at 6:30 p.m.  Items to be covered include the project schedule, traffic control, and access to businesses during construction. The public is invited to attend.

The project begins 8.7 miles west of Winner and proceeds east to the west edge of Winner, near the Country Club Motel.

The work involves removing a portion of the asphalt surface, concrete placement and shoulder work. Additionally, some spot grading near the Jordan Hill vicinity will be done to increase both the length and width of the passing lane at that location.

Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for slowing traffic, flaggers, construction equipment and workers.

The completion date for this project is Nov. 8.
