   Work Begins on Highways 16, 16A, and 16B in Hill City, Custer

 

CUSTER, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation has begun work on a project that impacts Highways 16, 16A, and 16B in Hill City and Custer. 

 

The work involves sidewalk curb ramp upgrades, traffic signal upgrades, and pavement markings.

 

In Hill City, the work is taking place between Chute Rooster Drive and Pond Street on both Highways 16 and 16B. In Custer, the work is taking place on Highway 16A/16 between 11th Street and just west of Bear Rock Road.

 

The edges of the roadway will be closed at each work location throughout the project limits. Two-way traffic is expected to be maintained.  

 

The prime contractor on this $1,033,279, project is Stanley J. Johnsen Concrete of Rapid City, S.D.

 

The overall completion date is Dec. 1, 2013.
