Snow, Wind Creating Difficult Travel Conditions on I-29

ABERDEEN, S.D. – South Dakota Department of Transportation officials are advising motorists that travel conditions on Interstate 29 from Sioux Falls to North Dakota could be difficult through the evening hours Thursday and into Friday morning.

While the latest spring storm has passed through much of South Dakota, the I-29 corridor north of Sioux Falls is still experiencing snow flurries and strong winds. The combination is causing snow to blow across the road and melt, creating icy conditions. With the snow and wind, period of low visibility are possible into the morning hours on Friday.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling on I-29 and to visit www.safetravelusa.com or call 511 to check the latest road conditions and travel advisories before beginning a trip while the storm is still in the eastern part of South Dakota.
