Snow, Wind Creating Travel Difficulties across Eastern South Dakota

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Department of Transportation officials are advising motorists that travel conditions on interstate highways and other state roads across much of eastern South Dakota will be difficult through the evening hours Thursday and into Friday morning.

While the latest spring storm has passed through much of South Dakota, many highways across the eastern part of the state are experiencing snow flurries and strong winds. The combination is causing snow to blow across the road and melt, creating icy conditions. With the snow and wind, period of low visibility are possible into the morning hours on Friday.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling through Thursday and into Friday morning. Travelers are encouraged to visit www.safetravelusa.com or call 511 to check the latest road conditions and travel advisories before beginning a trip while the storm is still in the eastern part of South Dakota.
