Construction To Begin on Highway 10 in Eureka


EUREKA, S.D. – Beginning Monday, May 6, work will begin on two projects on Highway 10 in Eureka, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

The project is the complete reconstruction of Highway 10 from the south junction of Highway 47 on the west to the north Highway 47 junction on the east side of Eureka.

Work includes grading, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, lighting and asphalt concrete surfacing, along with a sanitary sewer improvement project replacing 12,575-feet of sanitary sewer pipe and 33 manholes being done by the city of Eureka.

Highway 10 and Highway 47 traffic will be detoured around the work area north on 18th Street to B Ave. and east to Highway 47

The work is expected to be completed by Oct. 1.

Both state and city projects are being constructed concurrently by Duininck Inc. of Prinsburg, Minnesota, at a cost of $3 million for the state project and $890,000 for the city project.
