Bridge Work to Begin in Clay and Union Counties

VERMILLION, S.D. – Industrial Builders, Inc. of Fargo, N.D., will begin applying epoxy chip seal on the Highway 19 bridge one-mile north of Vermillion on Monday, May 6.

Traffic will be restricted to one lane for about two weeks.

At the same time, work to repaint girders and other minor repairs will begin on several Interstate 29 bridges in Union County.

I-29 traffic will be restricted to one lane of traffic at the bridge sites. Work will progress on Interstate 29 in Union County from south to north, beginning with the overhead bridge at Exit 31.

The projects are included in the $4.1 million contract for Highway 50 near Vermillion.

Motorists should expect delays, suddenly slowing and merging traffic, construction equipment and workers; drivers may want to consider alternate routes until the work is complete.

The overall completion date for all projects is Oct. 1.
