Highway 16 Construction from Neck Yoke Road to the Keystone Wye

Rapid City, S.D. – On Monday, May 13, construction crews near Rapid City will begin milling the road on an 11-mile resurfacing project on Highway 16 between Neck Yoke Road near Spring Creek and the Keystone Wye.

The $7.7 million project involves replacement of the road surface, median improvements, pipe work, and guardrail replacement in both directions on Highway 16.

Milling to remove the old surface will start  west of the Neck Yoke intersection in the westbound lanes and proceed to the Keystone Wye. Once the westbound lanes are complete, milling will start in the eastbound lanes and proceed east to the Neck Yoke intersection.

Traffic will be restricted to one-lane with a 16-foot width restriction and a speed limit of 45 mph at active work locations. Motorists are reminded that fines are double in work zones and drivers should watch for slow-moving and turning construction vehicles.

Resurfacing will follow the milling operation.

No work will be done that impedes traffic from July 27 through August 11 during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally period.

Bituminous Paving, Inc. of Ortonville, Minnesota, is the contractor; the project is scheduled to  be done in early October.
