Asphalt Surface Treatments to Begin in Four Southeast Counties         

 

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation advises motorists that asphalt surface treatments and placement of permanent pavement markings are scheduled to begin today (Tuesday, July 16) on highways in Lake, Moody, Minnehaha and Lincoln counties.

 

The contractor will move from one project to the next in the following order:

 

  1. Highway 19 from the intersection of Highway 42 to the intersection of Interstate 90, seven miles. The chip seal will begin on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 and will take one day. The fog seal will take another day.

 

  1. Highway 11 from Garretson to the Minnesota State line, 11.6 miles. The chip seal will take two days and the fog seal will take one day.

 

  1. 3.     Interstate 90 Exit 379 (Humboldt) on- and off-ramps. The chip seal will take half a day and the fog seal will take half a day.

 

  1. Highway 17 from the Lincoln-Minnehaha County line north 3.4 miles. The chip seal will take half a day and the fog seal will take half a day.

 

  1. Highway 11 from the intersection of 273rd Street north 3.7 miles. The chip seal will take half a day and the fog seal will take half a day.

 

  1. Highway 81 from the intersection of Highway 34 north 13 miles. The chip seal will take two days and the fog seal will take one day.

 

  1. Interstate 29 Exit 114 (Flandreau) on- and off-ramps.  The chip seal will take half a day and the fog seal will take half a day.

 

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and guided through the projects by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists can expect short delays. Traffic will be maintained to businesses and residences while work is ongoing.

 

The project is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 1, 2013. The prime contractor is The Road Guys of Yankton. Contract cost is $1,061,146.21
