Work Begins On Highway 85 South Of Lead

LEAD, S.D. – Beginning today, crews will begin crack sealing operations on Highway 85 from Cheyenne Crossing to the Wyoming line south of Lead, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

The work involves routing and sealing the cracks in the asphalt pavement.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane with a 16-foot width restriction.

Flaggers and pilot cars will be used to guide traffic through the project. Motorists should expect 10 to 15 minute delays during daytime operations.

The prime contractor on this $560,000 project is Roadway Services of Fargo, N.D. The work is expected to be done by Sept. 9.
