 I-90 Ramp Closures In Spearfish

SPEARFISH, S.D. – According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, the contractor will be working on the Interstate 90 Exit 12 westbound on-ramp and the Exit 14 on-ramp in Spearfish starting Saturday, Nov. 9.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, the contractor will be doing an asphalt overlay on the I-90 Exit 12 on-ramp. This work will require a single lane closure in the westbound lanes of I-90 and the closure of the westbound Exit 12 on-ramp for a portion of the day.

Similar work will take place in the eastbound lanes of I-90 at the Exit 14 on-ramp on Monday, Nov. 11, and Tuesday, Nov. 12. The work on Monday will require closing the I-90 eastbound Exit 14 on-ramp for part of the day and Tuesday’s work will require a single lane closure of the eastbound I-90 lanes near Exit 14.

Motorists will need to use an alternate exit while the on-ramps are closed and should watch for modified traffic patterns, suddenly slowing and merging traffic, and construction equipment and workers adjacent to the driving lanes.

The speed limit on that section of I-90 near Spearfish will be reduced to 55 mph, and motorists are reminded that fines are doubled in work zones.

The prime contractor on the $12.4 million project is Heavy Constructors Inc. of Rapid City.
