SDDOT Seeks Public Input For I-90 Exit 59 Study

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the Rapid City Metropolitan Planning Organization and the City of Rapid City, will hold a public open house on Wednesday, Feb. 12, to inform area residents on the replacement alternatives for the interchange at Interstate 90 and La Crosse Street in Rapid City. These replacement alternatives include modifications to the La Crosse Street corridor from Eglin Street to south of Mall Drive.

The purpose for the open house is to inform the public of the interchange and corridor alternatives being considered, to record any concerns the public may have regarding those alternatives and to gather ideas to help determine the future look of the interchange area.

Separate meetings with business and landowners along the La Crosse Street corridor are also planned.

For those who cannot attend the meeting or would like additional information on the study, information is available online at: http://www.sddot.com/transportation/highways/planning/specialstudies/lacrosse/default.aspx.

The meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Spruce Pines Conference Room of the Ramada Inn, located at 1902 N. La Crosse St. in Rapid City.

A brief, summarizing presentation will be made at approximately 5:45 p.m. followed by an open house discussion with SDDOT, MPO, city and consultant staff. The opportunity to present written comments will be provided and accepted until Feb. 28, 2014.

Notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that this open house/public meeting is being held in a physically accessible place. Any individuals with disabilities who require a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in the open house / public meeting should submit a request to the Department’s ADA Coordinator at 605-773-3540 or 1-800-877-1113 (Telecommunication Relay Services for the Deaf).  Please request the accommodations no later than two business days prior to the meeting in order to ensure accommodations are available.
