Work to Begin on Highway 37 North of Mitchell

MITCHELL, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says rehabilitation work on two bridges located about one mile north of Mitchell on Highway 37 will begin on Thursday, April 17.

The project includes replacing the bridge railing and the guardrail on both ends of the structures in both the north and southbound lanes at mile marker 80.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The speed limit through the work zone will be reduced to 55 mph and 45 mph when workers are present.

The contactor expects work to be complete by June 15. The overall completion date for the project is Oct. 17.

This work is part of a $2.1 million region wide structure rehabilitation project. The prime contractor is BX Civil and Construction of Dell Rapids.
