Traffic Signal Removal On Highway 14 In Miller

MILLER, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation will be removing the traffic signals at the intersection of Highway 14 and 5th Street in Miller during the week of May 5-9, weather permitting.

The elementary school in Miller has been relocated and the amount of traffic at this intersection no longer meets federal guidelines and will be removed.

The department will be removing the traffic signal heads at the intersection and installing stop signs on 5th Street. Highway 14 will not have any traffic control restrictions.

Motorists will see short duration lane closures in each direction while the signal heads are being removed.

The traffic signal poles and controller cabinet will be removed later this summer as part of a South Dakota Department of Transportation project on Highway14.

Drivers using the intersection are urged to pay attention to the new traffic control.

Questions regarding the signal removal should be directed to Dan Martell, Aberdeen Region Traffic Engineer, at 605.626.2244, email at dan.martell@state.sd.us, or address your comments to the Department of Transportation, PO Box 1767, Aberdeen, SD 57401-1767.
