PIERRE, S.D. – Officials from the South Dakota Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety are advising motorists that strong winds, snow and icy roads are making travel difficult, especially in the southeastern part of the state.
Drivers are being asked to postpone travel plans until conditions improve. Poor visibility and strong, gusty winds have created hazardous travel conditions, especially for high profile vehicles.
Numerous crashes and jackknifed trucks have created delays for snowplow crews working to get the roads clear.
The most current road condition information can be found on www.safetravelusa.com/sd, by calling 5-1-1, downloading the SDDOT511 app for iOS and Android and signing up for advisories and closure alerts on ClearPath511.
