PIEDMONT, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says that eastbound traffic on Interstate 90 near Piedmont will be detoured at Exit 40 to Sturgis Road between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

The work was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 25 and is postponed due to weather.

Eastbound traffic will re-enter Interstate 90 at Exit 44. Flaggers will direct traffic on Sturgis Road to provide non-stop flow for the detoured interstate traffic.

This is being done so guardrail repairs can be made at the bridges over Deerview Road and Little Elk Creek. Westbound traffic will be directed into the opposing lane at Exit 44 and will be directed back to the westbound lane beyond the guardrail repair work.

The speed limit on Interstate 90 will be reduced to 45 mph through the work zone.

Motorists are asked to slow down and be prepared for suddenly slowing, merging and stopped traffic, as well as construction workers and equipment adjacent to the roadway.
