PINE RIDGE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work on three miles of Highway 391 from the intersection of Highway 18 (Gordon Junction), 17 miles east of Pine Ridge, south to the Nebraska state line will begin Monday, May 1.
Work on the project includes asphalt milling, overlay a new asphalt surface and upgrading the drainage cross pipe flared ends.
During daylight hours, traffic will be reduced to a single lane in the work zone and controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Traffic will be restored to normal flow at the end of each day and during night time hours.
Motorists can expect delays up to 15 minutes, suddenly slowing and stopped traffic, construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane and are encouraged to use an alternate route.
This work is expected to be complete by May 12, 2017.
The prime contractor for the $22.2 million dollar project is Loiseau Construction, Inc. from Flandreau.
