BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says crews will begin asphalt crack sealing and leveling Wednesday June 14 on highways in the Belle Fourche area.

They will begin on Highway 168 from mile markers 25 to 32 and Highway 79 mile markers 144 to 151. Work will then progress to the following locations:

  1. Highway 85 mile markers 112 to 155
  2. Highway 73 mile markers 146 to 174
  3. Highway 34 mile markers 56 to 69 and 96 to 116
  4. Highway 12 mile markers 91 to 93

Traffic will be directed through the work zone with the use of flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists can expect 10 to 15 minute delays.

Motorists are asked to slow down in work zones and be prepared for suddenly slowing, merging and stopped traffic, as well as construction workers and equipment adjacent to the roadway.

The overall completion date for the project is Oct. 6.

The prime contractor for the $3.8 million dollar project is Simon Contractors of SD dba Hills Materials Co. from Rapid City.
