Highway 212 Opening from Watertown to Goodwin

WATERTOWN, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation will be opening Highway 212 between Watertown and Goodwin on Saturday, July 15, 2017.  The signed car detour route will be shortened along the south side of Highway 212 along county roads between Goodwin and Highway 15. 


Highway 212 will remain closed between Goodwin and the Clear Lake corner at Highway 15 until construction has been completed. Opening of Highway 212 to full traffic is projected to be Aug. 11.  


During the closure, truck traffic will be detoured both north and south of the project along highways 15, 22 and 20.


Highway 212 is being reconstructed from Watertown to Goodwin and from Goodwin to the Highway 15 south junction. Work includes removal and replacement of concrete surfacing, concrete overlay, permanent signing, pavement marking, new curb and gutter through Kranzburg and asphalt shoulders.


The prime contractor on this $12.9 million project is Knife River Midwest, Inc.


The contract completion date is Oct. 14, 2017.
