WHITEWOOD, S.D. – On Monday, Sept. 25, crews will begin work on the sidewalk, curb and gutter, and storm sewer at the intersection of Laurel Street and Hooker Street in Whitewood.

Work on the project involves upgrading the sidewalk to ADA compliance on the west side of Laurel Street from Hooker Street to Meade Street. The contractor will also be working with the RCP&E railroad to upgrade the existing railroad crossing using concrete panels and new asphalt.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane at times with three different half-day complete road closures planned for the installation of the concrete railroad crossing panels and asphalt paving. A signed detour route will be in place during the road closure.

The prime contractor on this $150,000 project is Ainsworth Benning Construction, Inc. of Spearfish.
