NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Department of Transportation officials say bridge repair work on Interstate 29 at Exit 1 in North Sioux City will begin the week of April 30, 2018.

Contractors will be repairing the viaduct bridge that was damaged by a vehicle impact. Work includes steel girder repair and spot painting.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in the southbound lanes only during the completion of the work. The westbound outside lane of Two Rivers Drive and the southbound circular ramp will be closed in conjunction with the closure of the interstate southbound driving lane. Southbound Two River Drive traffic may access interstate 29 via Sioux Point Road.

Motorists are asked to watch for suddenly slowing and merging traffic and be aware of construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane. Traffic will be separated from the work zone by concrete barrier dividers.

SFC Civil Constructors of Sioux Falls is the prime contractor on the $99,900 project.

Work is scheduled to begin April 30 and is expected to be completed by June 1.
