MITCHELL, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin reconstruction work on Highway 37 north of Mitchell from National Guard Road to one-quarter mile south of the Davison/Sanborn County Line on Monday, April 30.

The work being completed includes construction of median crossovers, concrete pavement overlay, bridge deck overlay, bridge approach replacement and asphalt shoulder resurfacing.

The first scheduled work is construction of median crossovers at the north and south ends of the project. During construction of the crossovers, traffic speeds will be reduced to 55 mph and traffic reduced to one lane in both the north and south bound lanes in the construction areas.

After construction of the crossovers, two-way traffic will be placed in the northbound lanes with a 12-foot width restriction and 55 mph speed limit while work is completed in the southbound lanes until about July 7.

Following construction of the southbound lanes, two-way traffic will be placed in the southbound lanes while work is completed in the northbound lanes. The anticipated completion of the project is Sept. 1, 2018.

PCIRoads of St. Michael, Minnesota is the prime contractor on this $8.8 million project.
