SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Starting Tuesday, May 29, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin asphalt concrete shoulder resurfacing work on Highway 115 from just south of Dell Rapids to the north city limits of Sioux Falls.

The contractor will be setting up traffic control devices and utilizing flaggers and a pilot car to reduce traffic down to one lane through the work zone. The work zone closure will move as the work progresses.

The contractor will begin cold milling the existing asphalt shoulders on May 30th. The shoulders will then be graded for the placement of asphalt concrete.

Motorists will be following a pilot car through the work zone closure. The speed limit through the work zones will be reduced to 45 mph where workers are present. Motorists are reminded that trucks and other construction traffic will be moving in and out of the work zones.

Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling through the work zone and be prepared for suddenly slowing traffic, lane shifts and construction equipment and workers adjacent to the driving lane.

The project is anticipated to be completed by July with an overall completion date of Nov. 8, 2018.

The prime contractor for the $1.5 million project is Bituminous Paving, Inc., of Ortonville, Minnesota.
