Resurfacing to Begin on Highway 11

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Starting Monday, August 27, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin asphalt concrete resurfacing work on Highway 11 from 273rd Street east of Harrisburg to 282nd Street, Highway 18.


The contractor will set up traffic control devices. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and will be directed through the work zone with the use of flaggers and a pilot car. The work zone closure will move as the work progresses.


Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling through the work zone and be prepared for suddenly slowing traffic, lane shifts, construction equipment and workers adjacent to the driving lane.


The contractor will begin minor grading at two structures and culverts located throughout the project on August 27and anticipate beginning cold milling the existing asphalt roadway on September 4. The asphalt concrete overlay will follow the milling operation.


The project has an overall completion date of Nov. 23, 2018. 


The prime contractor for the $2.7 million project is Duininck, Inc. of Prinsburg, Minnesota.
