NEWELL, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says crews will begin preparing for an asphalt concrete resurfacing and striping project on two bridge ends on Highway 212 east of Newell beginning Tuesday, Sept. 25.

The Highway 212 project is expected to take about a week to complete, depending on weather. Two locations on Highway 73 north of Faith, and one on Highway 85 south of Ludlow will also be done on this contract with information forthcoming on start dates.

During paving operations, traffic will be directed through the work zones with the use of flaggers. Motorists can expect up to 15-minute delays, suddenly slowing and stopped traffic, an uneven or rough surface, and construction equipment and workers adjacent to the roadway.

The prime contractor on this $149,400 project is Western Construction, Inc. from Rapid City.

The overall completion date for the project is Sept. 28, 2018.

Complete road construction information can be found at www.safetravelusa.com/sd or by dialing 511.
