WHITEWOOD, S.D. – On Tuesday, Oct. 2, crews will begin work to replace the railroad crossing on Laurel Street in Rapid City.

Work on the project involves closing Laurel Street to traffic for four days to replace the existing ties and install concrete crossing panels on all three tracks.

An alternate crossing will be installed west of the current crossing connecting North Street to Hooker Street on the west side of the Ridley Block building.

Once that part of the project is complete, sidewalk work to complete the ADA crossing will be done.

The prime contractor on this $151,000 project is Ainsworth Benning Construction, Inc. of Spearfish.
