RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work on Interstate 90 near the Haines Avenue bridges in Rapid City will begin Saturday night June 22 at 8:00 PM, weather dependent.

Work is scheduled to take place between the hours of 8:00 PM Saturday night and 5:00 AM Monday morning. Work involves placement of a High Friction Surface Treatment on the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-90 just west of the Haines Avenue bridges.

This is being done to improve safety and reduce vehicular accidents in this area.

I-90 eastbound and westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane of traffic while this work is taking place.

The northbound to eastbound I-190 ramp will be closed from Saturday 8:00 PM until 8:00 AM Sunday morning. Motorist are encouraged to seek an alternate route during this time.

The prime contractor on this $2.3 million project is Heavy Constructors, Inc. of Rapid City.
