WATERTOWN, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the Interstate 29 Exit 246 southbound on and off ramps will be closing on Thursday, July 25, and remain closed through Aug. 8.

At the same time, the I-29 Exit 242 interchange will reopen to traffic.

The closure is necessary for the contractor to continue reconstruction of the southbound lanes through the exit. Other work on the project includes grading, concrete paving and an epoxy bridge chip seal.

Drivers are reminded to slow down through construction zones and be aware of flaggers, suddenly slowing, merging and stopped traffic, as well and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

The prime contractor on this $16.9 million project is Reede Const., of Aberdeen. The overall completion date is scheduled for Oct. 20, 2019.
