Geographical Information System (GIS) champions the use of GIS technology throughout the Department, represents the DOT's interests at the State level, and develops and maintains the State's geographically referenced road network. GIS Staff accesses spatial data such as roadway age, surface type, surface condition, pavement distress data, roadbed layer information, accident data, average daily traffic, maintenance schedules, and improvement recommendations to develop maps used throughout the Department to assist in the day-to-day decision-making processes.
This section also creates specialized maps for Departmental use upon request.
