The current roadway section of Cliff Ave. from 60th Street North to 67th Street North is known for its large volume of truck traffic, deteriorating pavement with numerous patches, narrow left turn lanes and less than desirable drainage characteristics. The concrete pavement on Interstate 90 was at the end of its useful life being utilized for 52 years dating back to 1961.
What is being built?
The overall total reconstruction project consists of installing two bridges, concrete pavement, curb and gutter, storm sewer, water main, roadway lighting, traffic signals, permanent signing and pavement markings with a cost of $16.3 million. Work remaining on Cliff Ave. in 2014 includes landscaping, island paving and permanent pavement marking. Work remaining on I-90 includes eastbound structure work and permanent pavement markings.
